WordPress 5.3 is gelanceerd op 12 november met updates voor de Site Health beveiligings feature en email verificatie. Daarnaast wordt ook PHP 7.4 ondersteund.
De laatste WordPress-update van 2019 zal de miljoenen sites die gebruik maken van het open source CMS platform updaten. De grootste verbeteringen zijn toegankelijkheidsverbeteringen in de “Gutenberg block editor” en de PHP 7.4 comptabiliteit.
Qua beveiliging heeft WordPress 5.3 verdere beveiligingsverbeteringen doorgevoerd in het Site Health gedeelte.
Site Health werd geïntroduceerd in de 5.1 versie in februari en brengt plugins die verouderde versies van PHP gebruiken onder de aandacht van website beheerders. De technologie ondersteunt ook met het debuggen van veelvoorkomende configuratie problemen.
Daarnaast wordt er een nieuwe verificatie mogelijkheid per email toe voor site admins toegevoegd. Zo wil WordPress er zeker van zijn dat deze informatie te allen tijde acuraat en up to date is.
